Joan Lachkar, Ph.D., is a licensed Marriage and Family therapist (MFC MH16957) in private practice in Sherman Oaks, California, who teaches and practices psychotherapy using a psychodynamic approach. She is the author of The Disappearing Male (new in 2012) as well as How to Talk to a Borderline, How to Talk to a Narcissist (2007), The V-Spot: Healing Your Vulnerable Spot from Emotional Abuse, The Many Faces of Abuse: Treating the Emotional Abuse of High - Functioning Women (1998), The Narcissistic/Borderline Couple: A Psychoanalytic Perspective on Marital Treatment (2nd Edition) (1992), and numerous publications on marital and political conflict. Joan Lachkar speaks nationally and recently presented, "The Psychopathology of Terrorism" at the International Psychohistorical Association. She is an affiliate member of the New Center for Psychoanalysis, an adjunct professor at Mount Saint Mary's College, a psychohistorian, is on the editorial board of the Journal of Emotional Abuse, and is currently writing her new book NEW APPROACH TO MARITAL CONFLICT: THE DANCE, THE BOND, THE DRAMA.

Joan Lachkar, Ph.D.

Joan Lachkar, Ph.D. is a licensed therapist, trained mediator, psychotherapist, communication skills specialist, certified school teacher and published author on marital therapy, who offers expert and professional guidance, counseling and coaching for individuals, couples, families, and companies. Her practice includes an ongoing supervision group to help mental health professionals, mediators, lawyers and other professionals to deal with difficult patients and clients. Joan Lachkar also offers on-line and e-mail counseling and therapy for individuals, couples and mental health professionals.
